WHO IS Melissa?
Melissa A. Torres is a Registered Nurse and Artist originally from Newburgh, NY, now living in San Antonio, TX.
I earned my BS in Nursing in 1997 from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY, but my first love has always been art.
I would say I have always been an "artist." As an only child, it was my best way of entertaining myself. After working for over 20 years as a Registered Nurse, art became a way of escaping reality, relaxing, and sharing a part of myself with the rest of the world.
Having no formal art training other than a few classes while in school, and an Acrylics class as part of a Continuing Education Program, I have been pretty much self-taught.
I have been commissioned often for portraits of loved ones, both two legged and four.
