Each coaster is hand made using a yellow, non-toxic air dry clay. Each measures approximately 3.5-4 inches in diameter but may vary based on irregularity of shape. I try to make these look as realistic as possible while staying functional. All are painted using acrylic paint and sealed with a non-toxic resin to add strength to each coaster.  Because each coaster is created by hand, there may be  differences from one to another just as in the real thing! These are not created using a mold. The one(s) you receive may be different than those pictured. Cork rounds have been applied on the bottom to prevent damaged to your table surface. 
I have used a non-toxic resin that is safe for food although I do not recommend using for direct food contact. The heat generated from a hot mug will not damage the resin surface. However, hotter temperatures such as that produced from a frying pan or casserole dish straight from the oven may well be too hot for the resin surface, so I do not recommend coasters be used as hot plates. Clean using a damp cloth. Do not submerge in water or use in a dish washer. While I have tried my best to ensure all surfaces have been covered in resin, clay can soften if exposed to water. Resins tend to yellow over time. Store in a dark place when not in use.  
While resin cures hard, these coasters are fragile. Avoid dropping or banging to prevent paint or clay from chipping.
